Like all entrepreneurial endeavours, our firm's establishing was at least partly spurred on by pain.

Having the deal death rates accumulated to where they had throughout their previous careers, and upon a meeting of the minds, the Founders meeting initial conversations gave way to an optimism firstly and then a certitude, that they could establish a Real Estate Debt Fund, and do it better than most.

That last part is still a far way off from being judged, but in the meanwhile they are committed to continuing to establish our young firm by providing an exceptional service for Project Sponsors.

Kurt Johnston has spent close to 10 years within Real Estate as an asset class, through various entrepreneurial roles in providing professional services to boutique participants of the sector, the majority being Project Sponsors and Asset Sponsors.

Within these roles, he contributed to Sponsor led efforts to acquire, construct, and dispose of projects, originating concepts and opportunities as a fiduciary, before then establishing viability and financial feasibility through generating bespoke project and financial modeling.

Having accumulated a rich and broad experience from a multitude of roles including financing, transaction management, risk management, cost control and planning, project scheduling and programming, and contract management.

Through developing these skill sets, Kurt developed proprietary risk frameworks for specific scenarios that have come to be realized within the Fund’s addressable market, given the legal framework governing land use.

Because of the numerous sub-disciplines of the field that he has spent his time engaging with, he is able to synthesise the frameworks of these sub-disciplines into a single operating model for the Fund, in his role as Managing Partner, and being the Founder of Johnston & Partners.
